The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, professional and responsible person to implement and execute Asset Management systems within SANBI and to manage the full cycle of asset management in conformity with the Public Finance Management Act and SANBI’s Supply Chain Management and Financial Policies.
This position requires a degree in supply chain management, financial management, accounting science or equivalent qualification at NQF 7. A postgraduate qualification at NQF 8 will be an added advantage. This position also requires 8 years of work experience in the relevant field, 4 years of which should be in first line management position(s).
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: in-depth knowledge of Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, Generally Recognised Accounting Practice, comprehensive knowledge and understanding of human resources, procurement and financial management policies, procedures, and practices; proven ability to work with diverse team whilst being under pressure, and being quality, cost, and safety conscious; financial reporting, advanced planning, organizing, and problem solving skills; excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; excellent computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools including (Ms Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Outlook) is essential. The possession of a valid driver’s licence (minimum B) with at least one-year practical driving experience and a willingness to travel is essential.
Key Performance Responsibilities include:
- Manage risk associated with assets;
- Ensure accurate management reports are compiled, submitted and kept;
- Manage performance and output of the employees for the assets unit;
- Manage the Fixed Asset Register (FAR) and Living Resources Register for Zoological animals and plants;
- Monitor physical asset verification and quarterly spot checks;
- Manage the disposal of SANBI assets; and
- Maintain and update fixed assets and Living & Non-Living Resources policies and procedures
