A well-established leader in the cold chain and logistics industry is seeking a strategic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join their team. This role is essential for driving growth within the temperature-controlled storage sector, focusing on expanding the client base and optimizing service offerings for specialized storage needs.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the logistics landscape in South Africa and a proven track record of securing high-value contracts in the FMCG or perishable goods industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Market Expansion: Identify and develop new business opportunities within the cold storage and logistics sectors to increase facility occupancy and service revenue.

• Strategic Networking: Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including importers, exporters, and major FMCG retailers.

• Solution Selling: Tailor cold chain solutions to meet specific client requirements, ensuring optimal handling of perishable and temperature-sensitive products.

• Pipeline Management: Oversee the full sales cycle from lead generation and cold calling to closing deals and managing renewals.

• Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor movements, and regulatory changes within the South African logistics and storage landscape.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 5–8 years of business development experience, specifically within the logistics, warehousing, or cold chain industries.
  

• Willing to travel

• Education: A relevant degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Management.

• Skills: Strong negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively at an executive level.

• Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of cold chain protocols and the South African supply chain market.

• Attributes: A self-starter with a hunter mentality and a commitment to achieving ambitious growth targets.
