Position Purpose
To ensure strategic and proactive
management of employee relations.To manage the practical implementation of employee
relations policies and procedures in such a way as to facilitate the creation
of an environment conducive to employee satisfaction and high levels of
productivity and which limits Transnet Engineering's risk in the area of labour
relations.
Position Outputs
• Manage staff within the section so that they work within an environment conducive to being motivated and to achieving work objectives.
• Monitor and control the change management budget so that spending is within approved parameters.
• Manage the implementation of Transnet Engineering's employee relations strategy in the region- ensuring the objectives of the strategy are supported and delivered upon.
• Ensure the effective implementation of the Employee Relations strategy so that it is achieved within time, budget and quality requirements.
• Manage the implementation of appropriate Employee Relations policies that facilitate the achievement of the Employee strategy.
• Ensure effective communication and liaison with the various departments within the Region so that they are aware of the Employee Relations' Strategy, plan and policies and buy into ensuring their effective implementation within the business.• Provide support in departments within regions in the implementation of the Employee Relations strategy and Policy.
• Where required, represent Transnet Engineering in various Bargaining forums so that the business needs of Transnet Engineering and the Transnet Group are met in the various bargaining Council agreements and decisions.
• Where required, represent Transnet Engineering at the statutory dispute resolution structures so that a solution that minimises costs and risks for Transnet Engineering is brokered.
• Liaise directly with the Executive Manager Employee Relations to ensure the s/he is kept informed of Labour Relations issues occurring in the Regions, so that s/he may be well positioned to respond quickly and appropriately to all ER matters (if Required).• Prepare, monitor and control the employee relations budget within the Region so that expenditure is in line with the Transnet Engineering's financial requirements while facilitating the achievement of the strategy.
• Evaluate all employee relations initiatives undertaken by Transnet Engineering in the Region and provide feedback on these initiatives to the Executive Manager to inform future Employee Relations initiatives.
• Produce reports (including recommendations best practice, benchmarking, trends and risks) and submit to the Executive Manager Employee Relations so that s/he is informed of strategic and policy issues pertaining to Employee Relations within the Region.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree ( NQF7) in Human Resource /Labour Relations or relevant qualification.
• Minimum 6 years' experience in providing a generalist labour relations advisory service to Executives and Management within a large sized organisation and 2 years experience at Management level.
• Experience in major transformation and change management initiatives.
OR.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in providing a generalist labour relations advisory service to Executives and Management within a large sized organisation and 3 years experience at Management level.
