Employer: International Facilities Services

      1. Purpose of the Role

      To supervise laundry functions and the operation of laundry machinery and equipment according to Company safety
      standards and agreed client service standards.

      2. Key Responsibilities
      2.1. Laundry Operations Supervision
      • Maintain inventories of supplies and consumables.
      • Maintain any necessary records of operations and tasks.
      • Compile the duty roster and supervise laundry attendants against assigned tasks.
      • Supervise the collection and sorting of laundry into separate loads.
      • Supervise the use of washers and dryers including soap selection and cleaning formulas.
      • Supervise ironing and distribution of articles.
      2.2. Machine and Laundry Area Management and Maintenance
      • Oversee the cleaning of machines and filters at regular intervals.
      • Report any machinery service or repair requirements.
      • Ensure the laundry area is clean and organised.
      2.3. Safety, Health and Cleanliness Standards Compliance
      • Ensure laundry service areas are cleaned and sanitised according to health and safety standards.
      • Ensure laundry machinery is safely and correctly utilised.
      2.4. Staff Supervision
      • Manage and reconcile employee leave and attendance records.
      • Respond to or redirect employee queries as required.
      • Conduct employee appraisals.
      • Manage first level labour relations matters.
      • Identify areas for employee development and provide training.
      2.5. Effective Teamwork and Self-Management
      • Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities and demonstrate effective self-management in terms of planning and prioritising, and self-development.
      • Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of work are consistently and accurately maintained.
      • Inform relevant parties in the event of tasks or deadlines not met, the potential risks thereof and provide appropriate resolution.
      • Manage colleagues’ expectations and communicate appropriately.
      • Demonstrate willingness to help others and “go the extra mile” to meet team targets and objectives.

      • Grade 12
      • Hospitality diploma would be preferred
      • Minimum of 5 years’ related experience of which 2 should be in a team leader or supervisory role
