MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate.
• Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
• Advantageous: Operative Course Certificate.

EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

DUTIES (including but not limited to):

• Assist in ensuring optimum availability and reliability of equipment in support of effective and continuously improved mine’s operations. To assist and execute maintenance on mining equipment including modifications and repairs.
• Conduct mini risk assessment in own area of work and within span of control.
• Ensure own work area is always clean. Ensure all equipment and tools are cleaned after use and stored in Storeroom. • Ensure that personal/artisan’s tools are complete and in safe working condition.
• Work independently and under the supervision of the artisan. Ensure tasks are completed according to set requirements and standards. Tasks include: Conduct maintenance on rock breakers including remove and replace of hydraulic hoses on rock breaker, replace rock breakers, power pack and hydraulic cylinders. Do maintenance on conveyor belts including greasing bearing on conveyor belt, replace worn idlers and skirting rubbers. Replace vent fans, cleaning of fan plate and the impellor pump. Assist Artisans in conducting maintenance on compressors including replacement and removal of air filters and oil filters.
• Adhere to planned maintenance / production schedules and breakdowns to assist in achieving production throughout. Assume responsibility for the safe and optimal use of equipment and related machinery.
• All defects and status of tools and equipment are recorded, signed, and handed over to Chargehand/Foreman. Operate stationery and mobile engineering equipment. Perform lock-out procedure when required. Tools, material, and equipment are utilized according to SOPs. Assist Artisan during the maintenance of chairlifts including the replacement and removal of ropes, chair, brakes and safe operation of the chairlift. Conduct maintenance of underground dams including the replacement and removal of pumps.
• Assist the artisans in the maintenance of primary and secondary equipment when instructed (perform partly independent to the level of competence). All production equipment is maintained reactively and on a scheduled basis to ensure equipment availability and reliability. Breakdowns are attended to immediately to restore availability and reported to the supervisor/Control Room.
