🚀 We’re Hiring: Senior Manager – Workforce Management & Planning

📍 Location: Johannesburg (travel required)

⭐ Role Purpose

The Senior Manager – Workforce Management & Planning is responsible for defining and leading workforce management and planning across the Merchant Division. This role ensures that the right skills, structures, and capacity models are in place to support growth, innovation, and operational excellence.

This role is ideal for a strategic, analytical leader who can translate business demand into scalable workforce solutions that balance performance, cost, employee engagement, and customer outcomes.


🎯 Primary Focus

To define and lead workforce planning and management across the Merchant Division, ensuring optimal capacity, capability alignment, and scalable workforce models that support business strategy, customer experience, and employee engagement.


🔍 Key Responsibility Areas & Associated Tasks

📊 1. Workforce Strategy & Planning

• Define and drive workforce management strategy aligned to enterprise and Merchant objectives
• Develop data‑driven workforce plans to meet demand, productivity, and capability needs
• Align workforce planning with evolving technologies, automation, and digitisation strategies


🧱 2. Job Architecture & Workforce Structuring

• Design and maintain job architecture, role frameworks, and capability models
• Identify critical roles and future skill requirements
• Drive workforce optimisation initiatives, including automation, virtual roles, and flexible structures


📈 3. Workforce Planning, Scheduling & Forecasting

• Develop capacity models, forecasts, and scenario‑based workforce plans
• Ensure optimal workforce utilisation, scheduling efficiency, and coverage
• Conduct workforce audits and gap analyses to inform strategic decisions


🤝 4. Stakeholder Alignment & Advisory

• Partner with business leaders to align workforce strategy with operational needs
• Drive cross‑functional workforce planning initiatives
• Provide insights, recommendations, and decision support to executive stakeholders


👥 5. People Leadership & Capability Development

• Lead and develop workforce planning and analytics capability
• Drive performance, accountability, and engagement within the team
• Build a high‑performance, data‑driven workforce culture


💡 Key Competencies Required

• Strategic thinking with strong analytical capability
• Advanced workforce planning, forecasting, and capacity modelling expertise
• Strong stakeholder influence and executive communication skills
• Commercial and business acumen
• Sound problem‑solving and decision‑making ability
• Leadership and team development capability


🎓 Experience & Qualifications

Minimum Experience

• 5–10 years’ experience in workforce planning, HR analytics, or related disciplines
• Demonstrated experience in strategic workforce planning, capacity modelling, and optimisation

Preferred Experience

• Experience within fintech, financial services, or complex multi‑channel environments
• Experience integrating workforce planning with technology, automation, and digitisation

Qualifications

• Degree in HR, Business, Data Science, Economics, or a related field
• Professional HR or workforce planning certifications advantageous
