Job Overview:The Handyman – Interior Installations is responsible for carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and installation of interior fixtures and fittings within the property. This role ensures that all guest-facing and back-of-house areas are well-maintained, safe, and aligned with the hotel’s quality and aesthetic standards.Key Responsibilities:Perform installation of interior fixtures such as shelving, cabinetry, curtain rails, blinds, and décor elementsCarry out minor repairs including carpentry, painting, tiling, and basic plumbingInstall and maintain lighting fixtures, fittings, and electrical components (basic level)Assist with furniture assembly, placement, and repairsEnsure all installations are completed accurately and to a high standardConduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needsRespond promptly to maintenance requests from management and staffMaintain tools, equipment, and work areas in good conditionEnsure compliance with health and safety regulations at all timesAssist with renovations, upgrades, and refurbishment projectsWork closely with housekeeping and management to minimize disruption to guestsKeep records of maintenance work and report any major issues
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
Proven experience in a handyman or maintenance role (hospitality experience advantageous)
Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs
Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
Preferred Skills & Competencies:
Strong practical and technical skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Good communication and teamwork skills
Reliable and trustworthy with a strong work ethic
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, or after-hours when required
Understanding of interior finishes and installation standards
Reporting To:
Maintenance Manager / Operations Manager
Work Environment:
Hands-on role within a boutique hotel or similar environment, requiring responsiveness, flexibility, and a high standard of workmanship to support guest satisfaction.
