York Farm Limited is a joint venture between Lattice Management Consortium Limited, a private company registered in Mauritius and University of Zambia, a Statutory Body in the Republic of Zambia. The Company operate from two farms that are 25km apart both situated within Lusaka. It is one of the leading producer and exporter of fresh vegetables in Zambia with an operating history of more than 40 years.
York Farm Limited is engaged in the cultivation of a variety of vegetable crops intended for export to regional markets and Europe. The export crops include Fine Beans, Baby Corn, Mangetout Peas, and Sugar Snap. These vegetables are carefully grown to meet international standards and are a key part of the farm's export portfolio.
In addition to export activities, the company also produces vegetables for the local market. These locally supplied crops include Tomatoes, Colour Pepper, Broccoli, Cauliflower, and Baby Marrow. The vegetables are grown both in greenhouses and in open fields, ensuring a consistent and diverse supply to local consumers.
Beyond vegetables, York Farm Limited also cultivates arable crops such as Maize, Soya Beans, and Wheat. These crops complement the vegetable production and contribute to the overall agricultural output of the farm.
Reporting to the General Manager
Key Responsibilities
Remuneration: USD 36,000 - 45,000 per annum according to experience and qualification structured in a most tax efficient manner. Other benefits such as farm accommodation with staff, suitable vehicle for company use and for limited private use, local medical cover, annual leave etc. are in addition.
Required Skills
- Farm Manager: 10 years or more
- Horticultural Management: 5 to 6 years
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in farm management (preferably mixed farming) with a strong background in horticulture.
- Technically competent to work with the growing standard and requirement of the international markets.
- Knowledge of Farm Machinery and Equipment and its care.
- Knowledge of production techniques, and pest management.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, customers, and suppliers.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of sustainable and environmentally friendly horticultural practices.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Horticulture. A qualification in agriculture economics, business management will be an added advantage.
