    1. Role Purpose

    An External Sales representative drives revenue by proactively prospecting, visiting clients and closing deals within a defined territory. This field-based roles requires a self-starter with excellent relationship building, negotiation and product knowledge skills, typically requiring 3 – 5 years of experience, a valid drivers license and a hunter mentality.

    2. Key Responsibilities

    • Business Development: Actively prospect, cold-call, and secure new customers to expand the company’s market share.
    • Client Relationship Management: Maintain and grow relationships with existing accounts through regular site visits and personalized service.
    • Sales Presentations: Conduct face-to-face meetings and product demonstrations to educate clients on features and financial benefits.
    • Negotiation & Closing: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure profitable deals and meet monthly/annual sales targets.
    • Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and market conditions to adapt sales strategies.
    • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all leads and customer interactions in a CRM system, and submit regular sales activity and pipeline reports
    • Contribute to periodic management reports on stock, cash flow and cost control.

Required Skills

  • Business Development: 2 to 3 years
  • Sales: 4 to 5 years
  • Fmcg Experience: 2 to 3 years

Candidate Requirements

    • Required Skills & Qualifications
    • Experience: Typically, 3–5 years of proven external sales experience, often preferred within a specific industry (e.g., hardware, industrial, or FMCG).
    • Education: A National Senior Certificate (Matric) is usually the minimum; a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is often preferred.
    • Licensing: A valid driver’s license and often a reliable personal vehicle are essential for frequent travel within the assigned territory.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills to build rapport with diverse clients.
    • Self-Management: Highly motivated and target-driven, with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively without constant supervision.
    • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce).
