Job DescriptionRole Overview:We are seeking a skilled and dependable Plumber to join our maintenance team on a game reserve. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing water and sanitation systems across the reserve, including lodges, staff accommodation, kitchens, and operational facilities. This role requires a hands-on individual who is comfortable working in a remote, off-grid environment.Key Responsibilities:Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, pipes, fittings, and fixturesConduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on water systemsDiagnose and repair leaks, blockages, and system faultsMaintain and repair water pumps, boreholes, filtration systems, and irrigation systemsEnsure proper functioning of sewage and waste systems, including septic tanksSupport water conservation and efficiency initiativesWork closely with the maintenance and lodge teams to ensure smooth operationsRespond to emergency plumbing issues and breakdownsMaintain tools, equipment, and accurate maintenance recordsEnsure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

Work Environment:

• Remote, off-grid or semi-off-grid location
• Outdoor and indoor work in varying weather conditions
• Interaction with wildlife (strict adherence to safety protocols required)
• Live-in position may be required

📋 Job Specification
Minimum Requirements:

• Trade-tested Plumber or relevant plumbing qualification
• Minimum 3–5 years’ plumbing experience
• Experience working with water systems such as pumps, boreholes, and filtration systems
• Valid driver’s license

Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, maintenance, and repairs
• Experience with off-grid water systems and conservation practices (advantageous)
• Ability to diagnose faults and provide effective solutions
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems (pumps, pressure systems)
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations
• Basic computer skills for reporting and record-keeping
