Overview
We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Financial Planning Graduate to join our team as a Trainee Assistant to a Financial Advisor. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience and structured development within the financial services industry, with the goal of building a long-term career in financial planning.
Purpose of the Role
To support a Financial Advisor in delivering high-quality financial planning services while gaining practical exposure to client engagement, administration, compliance, and advisory processes.
Candidate Requirements
- Assist with onboarding new clients, including gathering and verifying required documentation (FICA, applications, etc.)
- Prepare client files, meeting packs, and financial review documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and databases
- Schedule client meetings and manage follow-ups
- Assist in the preparation of financial needs analyses and basic planning recommendations
- Support the drafting of proposals and quotations
- Conduct basic product and market research
- Work closely with the advisor to understand financial planning strategies
- Ensure all documentation meets regulatory and compliance standards
- Submit and track applications with product providers
- Follow up on outstanding requirements and business processes
- Liaise with internal teams and external service providers
- Recent graduate in Financial Planning, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- Strong interest in building a career in financial services
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Strong numerical and analytical ability
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Financial Planning or related field (essential)
- RE5 (advantageous but not required)
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to learn and take initiative
- Professionalism and strong work ethic
- Ability to manage time and prioritise tasks
- Client-focused mindset
