Reporting to the Technical Training Manager
Scope of the Position:
All functions, duties, and responsibilities of the Operations Supervisor
Purpose of the Position:
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the effective day-to-day operational management of the company's Training Centre. The role ensures that training operations support company’s engineering, manufacturing, and safety standards by providing a structured, compliant, and well-controlled training environment for employees, learners, and contractors. The position plays a key role in ensuring operational readiness, safety compliance, asset control, and alignment with the company's policies, procedures, and governance standards.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Supervise daily training centre operations to ensure uninterrupted training delivery.
Ensure facilities (classrooms/workshops) and equipment are ready, safe, and operational per the approved schedule.
Monitor training timetables, learner attendance, and adherence to operational protocols; address issues to maintain continuity and efficiency.
Coordinate logistics for technical, safety, artisan, and skills development programmes and support facilitators/assessors/moderators with operational needs.
Ensure accurate completion and submission of attendance registers, operational checklists, and training support documentation.
Liaise with HR, Skills Development, and Administration to ensure alignment and effective information flow.
Enforce the company's HSE standards and OHS Act compliance; conduct inspections; report hazards/incidents/near-misses; and ensure PPE availability and compliance.
Oversee training equipment/tools/assets: condition, availability, utilisation, storage/control, asset registers, and accountability.
Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and calibration of equipment in line with company standards; ensure housekeeping, cleanliness, and workshop discipline.
Supervise operational staff (support/reception/cleaning): allocate tasks, monitor performance, address minor conduct/performance issues, escalate per procedure, and support onboarding/orientation.
Engage internal/external customers: manage expectations on schedules/capacity, prepare stakeholders for audits/visits, resolve operational stakeholder issues, and gather/escalate feedback for continuous improvement.
Ensure alignment with QCTO/SETA and the company's quality requirements; apply SOPs/policies consistently; maintain records for reviews/audits/inspections; and compile/submit required operational and compliance reports.
Escalate operational challenges, safety risks, and non-compliance timeously; communicate operational updates and risks to management, facilitators, learners, and stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:Priority/Non-negotiable Requirements:
Grade 12 (Matric) – essential
Relevant qualification in Operations Management, Technical Administration, or Training Support
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an operational supervisory role
Experience in an engineering, manufacturing, technical, or industrial environment – essential
Strong operational planning and coordination skills
Strong administrative and reporting ability
Excellent computer literacy (MS Office, registers, reporting systems)
Ability to manage facilities, assets, and people simultaneously
Results-orientated, structured approach, with a strong work ethic and reliability
Ability to work collaboratively across business units and demonstrate accountability and professionalism
Additional Requirements:
Health and safety knowledge and a safety-first mindset for technical environments
Attention to detail and a compliance-driven mindset
Health and Safety training (e.g., SHE Rep, Basic OHS) – advantageous
Exposure to training centres, apprenticeships, or skills development programmes –
advantageous
Qualified Artisan – preferable
Registered Assessor and Moderator with QCTO and NAMB – preferable
Superior ability to organise and manage time efficiently
Takes initiative and is enthusiastic about achieving positive outcomes
