Role OverviewThe Revenue Manager is responsible for maximising the hotel’s profitability through strategic pricing, inventory control, and demand forecasting. In a boutique luxury environment, the role also focuses heavily on personalised positioning, brand value, and guest segmentation.Key Duties & Responsibilities Revenue Strategy & Yield ManagementDevelop and implement pricing strategies to maximise ADR (Average Daily Rate) and RevPAR (Revenue per Available Room).Analyse historical data, market trends, and competitor performance.Adjust rates dynamically based on demand, seasonality, and booking pace.Create and manage rate plans, packages, and promotions aligned with the hotel’s luxury positioning. Distribution Channel ManagementManage Online Travel Agents (OTAs) such as Booking.com and Expedia Group.Optimise the hotel’s presence on Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and direct booking channels.Monitor channel performance and commission structures.Ensure rate parity across all platforms. Forecasting & ReportingPrepare daily, weekly, and monthly revenue forecasts.Monitor occupancy, pickup trends, and pace reports.Produce management reports with insights and recommendations.Track KPIs such as ADR, RevPAR, GOP (Gross Operating Profit), and occupancy. Market Analysis & Competitor BenchmarkingConduct regular competitor analysis within the Hout Bay and greater Cape Town luxury market.Use benchmarking tools like STR Global reports.Identify market opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly. Reservations & Front Office CollaborationWork closely with Reservations and Front Office teams to optimise conversions.Train staff on upselling techniques and rate integrity.Ensure correct inventory allocation and availability across systems. Sales & Marketing AlignmentCollaborate with Sales & Marketing to align promotions with revenue goals.Support digital marketing campaigns and special offers.Assist in managing the hotel website and booking engine performance. - Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric) – essential
- Diploma or Degree in:
- Hospitality Management
- Business Administration
- Finance / Revenue Management
- Revenue Management Certification (e.g., HSMAI or similar)
- Advanced Excel / Data Analytics training
- Knowledge of RMS tools (e.g., IDeaS, Duetto advantageous)
- 3–5 years’ experience in revenue or reservations within a 4â or 5â hotel
- Boutique or luxury hotel experience highly preferred
- Strong understanding of the Cape Town tourism market
- Strong analytical and numerical ability
- Strategic thinking and commercial acumen
- Advanced Excel and data interpretation
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, seasonal market
