Position Overview
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team in the construction industry. This position is ideal for someone with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience in accounting, who is ready to take on a more hands-on role within the finance department. The successful candidate will report directly to the Financial Manager and will play a key part in managing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting senior management in decision-making.
Candidate Requirements
- Manage accounts payables and receivables, bank reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper account classification.
- Monitor and improve financial procedures and internal controls
- Manage and reconcile inter-company and Joint Venture transactions
- Prepare Monthly Management accounts
- Assist with budget preparation and financial planning
Experience & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting (or equivalent)
· At least 5 years of post-qualification accounting experience
· Solid understanding of accounting principles, policies, and procedures
· Proficiency in accounting software such as SAGE Evolution and strong Excel skills
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Cost Accounting:
· Assist with the invoicing and billing process, ensuring that all client invoices are accurate, timely, and aligned with contracts, purchase orders, and payment certificates
· Prepare and review accounts receivable reports, including aging analysis and bad debt provisions
· Assist with mapping of sales to construction project cost centres and the preparation of monthly costing reports.
Key Competencies:
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) and SAGE Evolution
· Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy in all financial tasks
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work
· Strong communication skills to interact with bankers, clients, colleagues, and management
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
· High levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Work Environment:
· Full-time position, Monday through Friday.
· Will require extended hours during financial closing periods and month ends as well as on occasional Saturdays and public holidays.
