Employer: Ivanhoe Mines
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- BSc Hons Geology or related qualifications
- Registration or eligibility with South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions or equivalent
- Computing qualifications
- Basic statistical analyses
- Valid Driver's License
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
- Minimum of four years of related industry experience in exploration drilling and underground mining- Production Geologist
- Minimum of two years in geology data analysis and reconciliation
- Exposure to mineral resource estimation processes
- Additional QA/QC certifications on sampling datasets
- Experience in dealing with complex data sets in the database and ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams (drilling, survey, mining).
- Exposure to automated geological data workflows
- Proficient in the use of mine software packages (Data mine, Leapfrog, Deswik and AcQuire preferred)
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft software including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams (drilling, survey, mining)
- High-level administrative skills
- Manage / Develop Geology Database (AcQuire) and associated systems (Exploration/studio Mapper)
- Collect and capture geological and structural data, as well as drill core logging information.
- Ensure that data is collected accurately and that the data is entered into the database in a timely manner
- Proactively participate in geology interpretation including fault, structure, orebody and other geological features and ensure wireframing is completed accurately
- Assist the Geologist II in the management of diamond drill programs, coordination sites, and assistance with contractor management
- Conduct core logging and oversee core sampling processes, ensuring accurate sample tracing, marking, recording, and QAQC compliance (assay and survey sign off).
- Supervising execution of underground exploration and cover drilling programs
- Supervising execution of underground grade control drilling
- Assist with contributions for daily, weekly and monthly reporting and reconciliations on geological activities.
