Job OverviewThe Lodge Anchor serves as the central point of coordination between guests and lodge operations, ensuring a seamless and exceptional guest experience from arrival to departure. This role combines front-of-house hosting, guest relations, and operational support, acting as the “anchor” that keeps all departments aligned.Key Responsibilities:Guest Experience & HostingWelcome and host guests throughout their stayEnsure a warm, personalized, and memorable guest experienceHandle guest requests, special arrangements, and preferencesAct as the main point of contact for guestsFront-of-House CoordinationOversee daily lodge activities and guest schedulesLiaise with housekeeping, kitchen, guides, and maintenance teamsEnsure all departments are aligned with guest requirementsAssist with check-ins, check-outs, and reservations if neededService ExcellenceMaintain high hospitality standards across all departmentsMonitor service delivery and address any gaps immediatelyAssist with meal service, hosting dinners, and special eventsAdministration & CommunicationMaintain guest records and preferencesEnsure clear communication between departmentsAssist with daily reports and operational updatesProblem SolvingHandle guest complaints or issues professionally and efficientlyAnticipate guest needs and resolve concerns proactivelyOperational SupportStep in where needed across departments (FOH, F&B, housekeeping)Support management with daily lodge operations
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
- Qualification in Hospitality Management (advantageous)
- Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in a luxury lodge or hospitality environment
- Experience in guest relations, front office, or hosting roles
- Exceptional guest service and hosting skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Excellent organizational and coordination skills
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure
- High attention to detail
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Computer literate (reservations systems and MS Office)
- Friendly, warm, and engaging personality
- Well-presented and professional
- Proactive and hands-on
- Strong team player
- Passion for hospitality and guest experience
- Adaptable to remote lodge environments
- Live-in position (typical for lodges)
- Shift work including weekends and public holidays
- Remote/bush environment
- Long hours during peak guest periods
