Role Purpose

The Tractor Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and overhauling tractors and agricultural machinery to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

The role requires strong diagnostic ability, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime and high service standards for customers.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnostics and Repairs

Perform accurate diagnostics and carry out repairs on tractors and agricultural equipment.

• Conduct electrical and mechanical diagnostic tests to identify faults and issues.
• Repair or replace defective components including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and hydraulic systems.
• Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams to support fault finding and repairs.

Maintenance and Servicing

Ensure machinery is maintained according to operational standards and preventative schedules.

• Perform routine servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and adjustments.
• Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
• Ensure all machinery is operating safely and efficiently.

Customer Support and Communication

Provide clear communication and support to customers regarding equipment and maintenance.

• Communicate with customers to explain faults, repairs, and maintenance requirements.
• Provide recommendations for preventative maintenance and safe equipment operation.
• Offer guidance on identifying and responding to potential issues.

Administration and Record Keeping

Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance and repair activities.

• Keep detailed records of all repairs, servicing, and maintenance performed.
• Ensure job cards and service reports are completed accurately and timeously.

Workshop Support and Continuous Improvement

Contribute to overall workshop efficiency and continuous development.

• Assist with inventory management, workshop organisation, and cleanliness.
• Support training and development of junior technicians where required.
• Attend training sessions to stay up to date with new technologies and industry trends.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as required.
