Employer: Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine (Pty) Ltd

Our mine, situated in the Limpopo Province about 60 kilometers from Lydenburg and 40 kilometers from Burgersfort, and is a world-class producer of Chrome Ore.
 
The successful applicant will report to the Surveyor or nominee.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 / Standard 10 Certificate with Mathematics / Science.
  • Certificate in Mine Survey.

EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

  • 6 Months practical mine surveying experience in a metalliferous mine.

DUTIES (including but not limited to):

  • Assist with the survey work underground, profiling, survey of surface features and the measurement of the pits, dumps and stockpiles. Assist the surveyor in installing pegs and taking off-sets.
  • Perform mini risk assessment before each new task. Ensure all required equipment is available and in good working condition. Assist the surveyor by drilling holes to install pegs and serve as a guide for taking off-sets. Assist with other duties when necessary as and when instructed and where instructions are within incumbent's ability, knowledge and skill, e.g. cutting of wooden blocks, tape flags.
  • Ensure visibility of the target Assist the surveyor to measure elevation, distance and angle using a tape or digital equipment. Measure the contractor’s work on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure correct labelling of samples. Install pegs on the corners of the boundaries. Monitor the beacons to measure the subsidence. Assist in clearing any obstruction in the work area. Assist with the measurement of the pits, dumps and stockpiles.
  • Conduct pre-check on relevant equipment to ensure all survey equipment (including accessories) is ready, clean and in good condition and report defects to the supervisor.
  • Carry the survey equipment to the appropriate working area, assemble relevant equipment to ensure availability for use by the surveyor, and dismantle equipment after use. Safeguarding the equipment at all times.
  • Ensure cleanliness, proper stacking and packing of the Storeroom. Ensure that the working area is safe and clean.

The successful candidate will be appointed on the Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine Conditions of Employment, which includes being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996.
