How you'll role
The Sportsbook Analyst is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the sportsbook by monitoring betting activity, analysing performance data, and ensuring accurate customer profiling. This role plays a key part in identifying trends, managing risk, detecting suspicious betting behaviour, and maintaining compliance with responsible gambling regulations.
What you'll do
- Analyse Sportsbook monthly KPIs
- Implement and execute effective withdrawal processes aligned with the business strategy
- Manage all ‘Specials’ markets for the Sportsbook
- Monitor odds movements aligned with betting activity, and profile customer accounts accordingly
- Apply restrictions or increases to online customer betting limits
- Identify bonus abuse
- Identifying suspicious betting patterns such as: live bet manipulation, arbitrage, non-profit long-term accounts, trade accounts
- Analyse customer betting patterns
- Report fraudulent activity or foul play
- Apply Responsible Gambling legislation to customer profiling
- Assist with customer support queries
- Assist with MTS (Managed Trading Services) support
- Engage with MTS to improve efficiency and accuracy of customer profiling
- Collaborate with the Amelco development team to improve gaming software across the board
- Conduct quarterly competitor pricing comparison assessments
- Manage the Sportradar tools related to the Sportsbook configuration
- Compile reports related to Sportsbook performance
Required Skills
- Risk Analysis: 2 to 3 years
- Fraud Detection: 2 to 3 years
- Betting Markets: 2 to 3 years
Candidate Requirements
What you'll need
- Matric / Grade 12 certificate
- 2–4 years’ experience in sports betting, trading, risk analysis, or a similar role
- Strong understanding of sportsbook operations, odds setting, and betting markets
- Experience with customer profiling, risk management, and fraud detection in a betting or gaming environment
- Familiarity with Responsible Gambling regulations and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level preferred) and data analysis tools
- Experience working with sports betting platforms/tools (e.g. Sportradar, Amelco, or similar) is advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, shift-based environment and make decisions under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ability to handle confidential information
