- Drive a zero-harm safety culture within the maintenance environment.
- Ensure compliance with MHSA, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Conduct hazard identification and risk mitigation activities.
- Lead and manage a team of artisans, foremen, supervisors, and planners.
- Ensure adequate training, competency, and development of staff.
- Manage performance, discipline, and workforce planning.
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget.
- Control costs related to spares, labour, and contractors.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Provide regular maintenance performance reports to management.
- Liaise with production, metallurgy, and engineering departments.
- Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers.
The Plant Maintenance Manager (2.13.1) is responsible for the overall management of maintenance activities within the metallurgical plant, ensuring optimal equipment availability, reliability, and safety. The role carries a legal appointment in terms of Section 2.13.1 of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), with accountability for ensuring that all mechanical and electrical equipment is maintained and operated in a safe and compliant manner.

Required Skills
- Management: 4 to 5 years

Candidate Requirements
- Degree / Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- GCC (Mines & Works) – Mandatory
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in plant maintenance within mining
- Minimum 5 years in a management role
- Strong knowledge of gold plant equipment and maintenance systems
- Experience in gold processing plants (CIL/CIP, crushing, milling)
- Exposure to CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Pragma)
- Proven track record in plant optimisation and reliability engineering
