Minimum Requirements
Education
- Formal culinary qualification (e.g., Diploma in Culinary Arts or equivalent).
- 4–6 years’ experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in:
- Luxury lodges, game reserves, or 4–5 star hospitality environments.
- Experience in remote or bush environments is highly advantageous.
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent culinary creativity and presentation skills
- Strong organisational and planning abilities
- Knowledge of international cuisine and local South African flavours
- Budgeting and cost control expertise
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a remote environment
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to live on-site in a remote game reserve
- Flexible working hours (including weekends and public holidays)
- Valid driver’s licence (advantageous)
- Good health and physical stamina
