We are seeking an Operations Manager – Solar & Renewable Energy to lead the delivery, execution, and performance of solar and backup power projects.
This is a hands-on, commercially focused role, responsible for managing projects from client engagement through to installation and optimisation — ensuring quality delivery, client satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate combines technical understanding with strong project and operational leadership, and is comfortable working across clients, contractors, and internal teams.
Responsibilities
Project & Operational Management
- Manage end-to-end delivery of solar and energy projects
- Oversee installations, timelines, quality control, and commissioning
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and internal teams
Client & Commercial Engagement
- Engage with clients to understand requirements and propose solutions
- Support proposal development and costing
- Manage client relationships throughout project lifecycle
- Ensure commercial viability and performance of solutions
Technical Oversight
- Review system designs, simulations, and technical proposals
- Conduct site assessments and ensure feasibility
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues
- Ensure compliance with electrical and renewable energy standards
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor system performance and identify optimisation opportunities
- Conduct energy analysis and reporting
- Improve internal processes and project workflows
Qualifications
- A relevant tertiary qualification from a recognised university is required, such as:
- BSc / BEng / BTech in Electrical Engineering, OR
- Engineering, Energy Systems, or related technical field
- Additional certifications or training in solar, renewable energy, or project management will be advantageous
Experience & Knowledge
Proven experience in solar, renewable energy, or electrical project environments
- Strong project management and operational delivery experience
- Experience managing installations, contractors, and timelines
- Good understanding of solar PV, battery systems, or backup power solutions
- Experience working with clients and stakeholders
- Exposure to commercial aspects (costing, proposals, ROI) is advantageous
