Job Title: Accountant

Location: Bedfordview, walking distance from Eastgate Mall / Bedford Centre Mall

Job Type: 2 year contract, full time.

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented accountant to join our accounting team in a small practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining financial records, analyzing financial data, preparing financial reports and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
- Maintain and manage financial records, including general ledger entries to trial balance.
- Assist with basic budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Conduct basic / preliminary financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations
- Collaborate with team to provide financial insights and support
- Participate in external audit preparation as needed
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or tax (MUST)
- CPA certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and tax
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations
- Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, strength in time management and good team player
- Detail-oriented and organized with strong problem-solving skills
