Candidate Requirements

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role
• Proven experience handling full bookkeeping function up to trial balance
• Practical experience with VAT submissions and SARS eFiling
• Experience dealing with auditors and preparing audit files
• Exposure to stock control and reconciliations
• Experience managing creditors, debtors, and cashbook

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of VAT regulations and basic tax compliance (South Africa)
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Pastel)
• Advanced Excel skills (reconciliations, reports, data accuracy)
• Solid understanding of bank, creditor, and stock reconciliations
• Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies

Core Competencies:

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving ability
• Ability to work independently and take ownership
• Good communication skills (especially for SARS and supplier queries)
• Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines

Advantageous:

• Relevant qualification (Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Accounting or Finance)
• Experience in audit preparation and compliance environments
• Familiarity with inventory/stock systems
