Bet-el Fruits, operating in the fruit export and agricultural sector, has an exciting opportunity available for a hands-on, detail-oriented, and organised Financial Accountant to join their team, based in Paarl.
The successful candidate will report to the Financial Manager and will be responsible for managing the financial processes of the business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting management with reliable financial information.
The successful candidate will be responsible for: *Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports for both local and export operations *Preparation and verification of financial statements, budgets, and financial statistics *Monitoring and analysing financial variances and providing explanations for material deviations *Managing and reconciling bank and cash accounts, including processing transactions and EFT payments *Debtors management, including invoicing, collections, reconciliations, and resolving customer queries *Creditors management, including processing supplier invoices, reconciling statements, and preparing payment schedules *Monitoring cash flow to ensure sufficient funds are available for operational requirements *Preparing and maintaining financial reconciliations, including recoupments and margin insurance reconciliations *Liaising with auditors, financial institutions, suppliers, customers, and relevant regulatory bodies *Preparing audit documentation and assisting with annual audit processes *Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, including VAT submissions and SARS queries *Maintaining company statutory records and CIPC submissions *Performing additional finance and administrative duties related to the position.
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
• BCom Accounting, Finance, or a related financial qualification;
• 3–5 years’ experience in a similar accounting role;
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting;
• Experience with accounting systems (Pastel, QX, or similar will be advantageous);
• Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel;
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Ability to work accurately and manage multiple financial processes.
