Your contribution to Virgin Active is to deliver club sales results in line with, or exceeding, budgets set. To create and maintain high performing sales team, to achieve our customer acquisition and revenue growth targets. This means the role will be responsible for maximizing our sales team potential through, couching, and adjusting the sales plans as needed, to ensure the desired result is achieved.
The job:
1. Lead the sales team in driving new membership acquisition and retention strategies. As the Sales Manager, you will be the driving force behind achieving and exceeding membership sales targets. You will work to understand the unique needs of potential and existing members and develop tailored sales tactical plans which attract, convert, and retain members.
2. Execute on marketing campaigns to increase brand visibility and drive membership growth. execute on the overall marketing campaign which promote Virgin Active’s unique value proposition and drive foot traffic to the club. Leverage digital channels, social media, and local partnerships to create awareness and excitement about the brand.
3. Create and nurture a high-energy, results-driven sales culture. Foster a competitive yet collaborative sales environment that motivates the team to exceed targets. Provide continuous training, mentorship, and performance management to ensure the team remains focused, energized, and aligned with Virgin Active’s brand promise and values.
Key responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement sales tactical plans to attract new members and increase retention. Leverage market research, data analytics, and customer insights to create innovative sales tactical plans which cater to local needs and trends. This includes special promotions, community engagement, and referral programs that encourage both new sign-ups and member loyalty.
2. Train, coach, and motivate the sales team to meet and exceed targets. Develop tailored training programs to enhance the sales team’s skills in closing deals, handling objections, and delivering outstanding customer experiences. Regularly monitor performance and provide constructive feedback to ensure team success.
3. Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing members. Create a personalized sales experience that resonates with members' individual goals and wellness needs. Follow up with potential members and maintain strong, ongoing relationships to keep them engaged with Virgin Active.
4. Track sales performance and provide actionable insights. Use sales analytics to monitor progress, identify trends, and adjust plans to meet goals. Provide regular reports to management and implement corrective actions where necessary.
5. Coordinate with marketing to launch promotions and drive sales. Work closely with the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging and seamless execution of promotional campaigns that generate leads and convert prospects into members.
6. Leverage community and corporate partnerships to drive membership sales. Identify and pursue strategic partnerships within the community to increase brand visibility and generate new member sign ups, including corporate wellness programs, local influencers, and exclusive partnerships.
We can’t live without… (Minimum Requirements)
• Matric Certificate
• Relevant tertiary qualification advantageous
• Minimum 2 years’ experience within a sales management role, i.e., managing a sales team.
• Exceptional and proven success in managing teams and driving outcomes through teams.
• Minimum 4 years’ previous experience within the sales environment (similar industry preferable)/ sales consultant role
• Must be able to show a proven, successful track record in a solution sale environment.
• Must be highly numerate, financially astute and be able to understand budgeting processes.
• Must have proven knowledge of financial reports, e.g., P&L
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills
• Must know how to negotiate and close deals under pressure.
• Successfully completed Pro – active Sales Manager training (Internal Candidates)
