How you'll role

The Financial Accountant will manage and execute a variety of financial activities including transactions, budgets, and reports. Being a pivotal role within the mining sector, specifically for company operations interlinked with agriculture, this position requires a seasoned professional to ensure precision in financial transactions and regulatory compliance. The role involves significant responsibility in maintaining financial controls, preparing reconciliations, and contributing to strategic financial discussions.

What you'll do

• Full control of the fixed asset register and monthly amortization

• Prepare documents and attend monthly or bi-weekly capital meetings

• Conduct monthly VAT reconciliations and submissions to SARS

• Submit monthly EMP201 to SARS

• Perform monthly salary reconciliations

• Manage project capital commitments and reconciliations

• Oversee accounting to trial balance – full function

• Control short-term insurance and insurance claims

• Prepare various monthly GL reconciliations

• Analyze, allocate costs, and clear provision accounts

• Manage the tender process for asset sales

• Oversee petty cash management

• Prepare monthly/quarterly returns: SARB and Stats SA

• Complete finance sections of the monthly BEE report

• Control daily checking of payments

• Collate and check monthly GL, bank, debtors, and creditors reconciliations

• Administer all GL accounts and accounting structure

• Control major capital projects

• Manage financial month-end processes

• Supervise finance staff

• Perform any ad hoc task requested by the Financial Controller
