A well-established and reputable construction company based in Durbanville is seeking to appoint a Construction Buyer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of building materials, plant, and subcontract services to support multiple construction projects while ensuring cost efficiency and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Procure construction materials, plant, and equipment in line with project requirements
Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations and negotiate pricing
Manage supplier relationships and maintain an approved supplier database
Issue purchase orders and track deliveries to site
Coordinate with site management and quantity surveyors regarding material needs
Ensure procurement aligns with project budgets and timelines
Monitor stock levels and maintain procurement records
Resolve supply chain issues quickly to avoid project delays
Minimum Requirements
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Buyer in the construction industry
Strong knowledge of building materials and construction procurement processes
Proven negotiation and supplier management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment
Excellent organisational and administrative abilities
Computer literate (Excel, procurement systems, and email communication)
Valid driver’s licence
Advantageous
Experience working with building contractors or property developers
Knowledge of local building suppliers within the Western Cape
Remuneration
Market-related salary package, negotiable based on experience.
