PURPOSE OF ROLE
We are seeking a Structural Draughtsman to join our Oil, Gas and Power Engineering team. The successful candidate will be required to provide support to the Engineering team through the draughting of Civil and Structural engineering drawings and ensuring consistent checking of drawings and data. You will be required to produce quality technical outputs that satisfy all requirements (Client and applicable Standards) by adhering to internal processes within the draughting team.
This is a 100% technical role with no direct reports within the functional organogram, although the position involves providing guidance to Junior Draughtsmen.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
General Outputs
- Deliver Civil and Structural drawing outputs in accordance with Lesedi Draughting procedures, guidelines, and standards.
- Ensure outputs are delivered on time and within budget.
- Adhere to Lesedi procedures, guidelines, and standards.
New Business Development, Tenders and Proposals
- Participate as part of the proposal team to provide technical input.
- Contribute to concept development.
- Provide complete and accurate inputs into Lesedi proposals, meeting deadlines.
Design Development
- Strong focus on industrial, power generation, oil & gas plant design for Greenfields and Brownfields projects.
- Strong focus on structural steel draughting with general / broad knowledge of Structural Concrete and Rebar detailing.
- Develop Plant related 3D Models of Buildings, Concrete and Steel Structures.
- Perform drawing outputs for basic and detailed design development.
- Participate in 3D model reviews.
- Communicate software/hardware requirements to Plant Design/Draughting Lead.
- Ensure minimum review cycles for outputs
- Produce cost-effective, technically compliant, procurable, and constructible designs
Design Integration
- Interface with other draughting disciplines and Engineering to ensure integrated design delivery.
- Participate in Integrated Design Reviews.
Implementation and Installation Support
- Provide site support during construction (ad hoc site presence – if required, field changes changes).
- Manage change control processes.
Project Handover
- Prepare as-built documentation.
- Support Project Team with handover and close-out of draughting deliverables.
- Participate in lessons learned sessions.
Documentation and Configuration Management
- Work with Configuration Management Team to ensure draughting outputs are controlled and archived.
- Use applicable software tools such as M-Files / SharePoint.
- Maintain awareness of Documentation Control and Configuration Management Processes.
Teamwork

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
One of the following combinations is required:
Option 1:
- Qualification: Minimum National Diploma in a relevant engineering qualification from an accredited university or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Energy/Industrial Industry Civil and Structural Draughting.
Option 2:
- Qualification: Minimum National Certificate Level 4 in a relevant draughting qualification from an accredited college or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years in Energy/Industrial Industry Civil and Structural Draughting.
Option 3:
- Qualification: Matric level or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years in Energy/Industrial Industry Civil and Structural Draughting.
COMPETENCIES
Knowledge:
Technical Knowledge
- Good Structural draughting skills.
- Practical knowledge of construction.
- Good knowledge of plant layout and design.
- Experience in 3D modelling environment.
- Good understanding of output drawings.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety Act, ISO 14001 and 18001.
- Understanding of the relevant industries/plant areas.
- Working knowledge of applicable standards.
Skills
- Essential Skills
- Computer literate (MS Office).
- Proficient in discipline-specific software platforms and integration tools i.e. Autodesk AEC Collection.
- Able to communicate clearly (written and spoken).

- Understanding of Plant Coordinate & Geodetic coordinate systems
- Basic understanding of Federated 3D model workflow and integration thereof.
- Advanced Steel / Revit Experience.
