Role Purpose

The Alternative Sales Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team of sales consultants focused on converting leads generated through real estate partners, bond origination partners, alternative lead channels, and direct marketing initiatives.

The role ensures effective execution of sales strategies, achievement of sales targets, and compliance with industry regulations. The incumbent plays a key role in optimising lead conversion processes, maintaining high-quality sales standards, and fostering a high-performing team culture that supports sustainable revenue growth through alternative sales channels.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management

Provide leadership and direction to the sales team to ensure high performance and alignment with organisational objectives.

• Lead, inspire, and manage a team of sales consultants while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and guidance to support professional development and performance improvement.
• Conduct daily buzz sessions to review performance, identify improvement areas, and align the team on daily targets.
• Develop and implement action plans to address performance gaps and drive continuous improvement.


Sales Performance and Campaign Management

Drive sales performance and ensure the effective execution of campaigns across alternative sales channels.

• Oversee sales activities across channels including real estate partners, bond originators, and alternative lead sources.
• Optimise lead conversion and premium generation across campaigns.
• Monitor individual and team performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) including sales, productivity, and quality metrics.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide actionable feedback to sales consultants.
• Implement performance improvement plans where required.


Compliance and Quality Assurance

Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and maintain high-quality sales standards.

• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal policies, and ethical standards.
• Conduct regular audits of sales calls and processes to ensure quality and compliance.
• Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to review findings and implement improvement initiatives.


Stakeholder Management

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

• Maintain relationships with external partners including real estate and bond origination partners.
• Collaborate with internal departments including technology, claims, business development, and marketing to support sales objectives.
• Ensure a positive customer experience through effective stakeholder collaboration.


Operational Efficiency and Process Improvement

Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement within the sales function.

• Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, and operational efficiencies within the sales team.
• Implement initiatives to streamline operations and optimise productivity.
• Ensure effective use of CRM systems and other technology tools to manage leads and track performance.


Professional Development and Ethical Leadership

Promote professional growth and ethical conduct within the team.

 

• Foster a culture built on strong values, ethical conduct, and long-term career development.
• Provide training and development opportunities to strengthen team capabilities.
• Keep the team informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.


Required Skills

  • Insurance Sales Manager: 3 to 4 years

Candidate Requirements


Role Requirements

Qualifications

Matric Certificate (essential).
RE5 and FAIS qualifications (mandatory).
RE1 qualification – advantageous.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field – advantageous.


Experience

Previous experience in call centre sales and campaign management.
Proven experience in short-term and/or long-term insurance sales within a call centre environment.
Demonstrated experience managing and leading sales teams.
Experience in planning, executing, and optimising sales campaigns.
Experience using CRM systems to manage customer interactions and track sales leads.
Experience in wills-related sales – advantageous.


Technical Competencies

Strong understanding of sales campaign management and performance tracking.
Working knowledge of CRM systems and lead management platforms.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Understanding of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and ethical standards.


Behavioural Competencies

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Analytical thinking with the ability to interpret performance data and trends.
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement capability.
Problem-solving ability with a proactive approach to challenges.
Excellent telephonic sales and customer service skills.
Ability to motivate and lead a high-performing sales team.


Additional Requirements

Fluency in Afrikaans – advantageous.
