Job Purpose:

To manage and operate the Tool Room efficiently while designing, manufacturing, maintaining, and improving tooling for steel tube production. The role requires strong technical ability, leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to ensure minimal downtime and continuous production improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tooling & Manufacturing:

• Design, manufacture, and maintain roll tooling for steel tube production lines
• Develop and optimize roll designs for various tube profiles
• Operate and program CNC machines (turning, milling, etc.)
• Operate conventional/manual machines (lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, etc.)
• Ensure tooling accuracy, quality, and dimensional compliance
• Troubleshoot tooling and production-related mechanical issues

2. Design & Engineering:

• Create and update technical drawings
• Use SolidWorks for 3D modeling and detailed manufacturing drawings
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Drive tooling improvements and cost-saving initiatives
• Implement design changes to improve product quality and productivity

3. Tool Room Management:

• Manage daily tool room operations
• Supervise and lead tool room personnel
• Plan and prioritize tool manufacturing and maintenance schedules
• Maintain tooling inventory and control systems
• Ensure housekeeping, safety, and quality standards are maintained

4. Leadership & Communication:

• Train and mentor apprentices and technicians
• Communicate effectively with production, maintenance, and management teams
• Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support
• Maintain high standards of integrity, accountability, and professionalism

5. Project Management:

• Drive engineering and tooling projects from concept to completion
• Take ownership of tasks and ensure deadlines are met
• Work independently with strong self-initiative
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
