A specialist Underwriting Management Agency (UMA) operating in the commercial vehicle and fleet insurance market is expanding its underwriting team and is looking to appoint 2 experienced Commercial Underwriters to join their offices in Centurion and Kraaifontein.
This role is ideal for an underwriter who enjoys working within a commercial lines environment, assessing risk, structuring policies, and supporting intermediaries with sound underwriting decisions across new business and renewals.
If you are confident navigating commercial motor risks, policy wording interpretation and rating structures, this opportunity offers the chance to grow within a focused specialist underwriting environment.
Qualifications
- Matric
- Relevant Insurance Qualification (NQF5 advantageous)
- RE5 and/or RE1 – essential
- FAIS compliant with 60 Commercial Lines credits
Professional Experience
- 3 – 5 years experience in Commercial Underwriting
- Experience within a UMA or broker environment advantageous
- Sound understanding of commercial motor and fleet underwriting principles
- Strong knowledge of policy wording, risk rating and underwriting guidelines
- Exposure to MMX Systems highly advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and insurance administration systems
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Underwriting new commercial motor and fleet business in line with underwriting guidelines
- Managing policy renewals, endorsements and cancellations
- Conducting risk assessments and ensuring appropriate rating structures
- Maintaining strong relationships with intermediaries and broker partners
- Ensuring compliance with FAIS and regulatory requirements
- Supporting the underwriting team to maintain service excellence and turnaround times
What Is On Offer
- Salary R18,000 – R40,000 per month depending on experience
