Our client based in Rosebank is looking for suitable candidate for position of a Senior Specialist - Anti Financial Crime Portfolio.
The primary objective of this role is to promote a regulatory environment that will enable the banks to continue to provide competitive, sustainable, and customer-centric financial services and products. The Senior Specialist: Anti-Financial Crime Portfolio will report to the Manager: Legislation and Regulatory Oversight.
Key Responsibilities as follows:
Anti-Financial Crime Portfolio
Enable company to be the “Voice of the Industry” of the banking industry through formulation of positions on critical regulatory and supervisory issues.
- Identify legislation, regulation, guidance and international standards (including the Financial Action Task Force Recommendations) that requires comments/engagement.
-Collecting, compiling members’ comments for submissions.
-Drafting of submissions/ position papers.
Meeting Facilitation
• Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to gather input from member banks, discuss submissions/requirements from member banks;
• Create a collaborative environment to encourage effective communication and decision-making;
Stakeholder Management
• Engage with high-profile stakeholders, including the executive board, board members, directors from other institutions, registrars, and industry leaders, as and when requested to do so by the Manager: Legislation and Regulatory Oversight (Market Conduct).
Governance and Market Conduct Portfolio
• Stay updated on financial crime regulatory requirements and legal considerations in the banking industry.
• Ensure activities adhere to relevant regulations and legal frameworks.
Thought Leadership
• Develop and implement an effective advocacy strategy to ensure that the banking sector’s perspectives are effectively represented in regulatory consultations.
Organisation support
• Participate in, create, and promote a collaborative, learning and performance-oriented culture.
• Report into and assist the Manager: Legislation and Regulatory Oversight with the work conducted in the Anti-Financial Crime Portfolio, identified projects and outputs.
-Preparing materials and topics of interest to members across various committees/sub-committees/ work groups/ task groups, etc.
Working on the preparation of documents, management of information, maintenance of files, and coordination of tasks across multiple divisions.
Required Skills

Candidate Requirements
Bachelor's degree (preferred), in Legal, Business, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of banking/ compliance/ market conduct experience.
• In-depth knowledge of South African banking environment will be advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Leadership and project management skills.
• Demonstrate strong responsibility and integrity.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism.
• Be personable and able to build positive relationships.
