Our client based in Randburg is looking for a Junior Bookkeeper and Accounting Assistant to focus on financial record-keeping, account reconciliation, and handling the broader administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and general office support. They need a person who can fulfil both roles in oneSalary: R10 000 - R30 000 (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Management: Record daily financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and receipts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process bills and invoices, manage customer and supplier accounts, and follow up on outstanding payments
Bank Reconciliation: Compare company accounts with bank statements to identify discrepancies and ensure financial accuracy
Payroll and Tax Assistance: Support payroll processing and assist with tax computations, including statutory returns where applicable
Financial Reporting: Prepare basic financial reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and expense summaries
Document Management: Maintain organised filing systems for financial documents and records
Support Senior Staff: Assist accountants or financial managers with audits, reconciliations, and other accounting tasks â¨

Minimum requirements:

Numerical Proficiency: Strong mathematical skills for accurate financial calculations
Attention to Detail: Ability to detect errors and discrepancies in financial records
Technological Skills: Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage Pastel
Communication Skills: Clear communication to convey financial information effectively
Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain orderly records â¨

Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Matric certificate or high school diploma; a bookkeeping or accounting diploma is advantageous â¨
Experience: Typically, 1–2 years of practical bookkeeping experience; familiarity with accounts payable/receivable and bank reconciliations is preferred
Additional Requirements: a valid driver’s license, knowledge of statutory returns, or prior experience in a financial role â¨â¨
