Main Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of the site’s electrical infrastructure and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations. Previous experience working within laboratory environments or facilities will be considered advantageous. This role is critical in minimising downtime, maximising productivity, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of plant and equipment. The incumbent will work with a wide range of electrical and mechanical systems, utilising specialised tools and techniques to assemble, dismantle, align, and calibrate machinery components to meet precise operational standards. The Electrician will also play a key role in supporting the continuous improvement and effectiveness of the department’s maintenance management system (SAP PM) by ensuring accurate work execution, proper documentation, and timely feedback on completed maintenance activities.
Education and Experience required:
- N4 - N6 Electrical Engineering
- Electrical Trade Test (Section 26D or 13)
- Operating on MV Networks License
- Three phase Wireman’s License
- Generator maintenance (Advantageous)
- UPS Maintenance (Advantageous)
- Exposure to a Battery management system & Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning
- Licenced and registered with the Department of Labour
Key areas of responsibility:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments for all tasks performed and ensuring that high-risk work is carried out only by authorised and permitted personnel.
- Monitor and maintain all commercial and centre critical infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Perform planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance on all infrastructure systems and equipment.
- Interpret, read, and work from electrical drawings and schematics to support maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation activities.
- Conduct fault detection and diagnostics on critical infrastructure systems.
- Perform switching and isolation of Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) equipment in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment.
- Conduct daily inspections and walk-throughs of electrical and mechanical systems to ensure operational readiness.
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels according to design specifications.
- Provide technical support to laboratory facilities, including electrical system configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal operation.
- Monitor system processes to ensure continuous and efficient operational performance.
- Evaluate heating and cooling systems to ensure they remain operational and capable of maintaining required equipment temperature conditions.
- Comply with established working procedures and standards to ensure all client Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Master Service Agreements (MSAs) are achieved.
- Monitor customer network servers and storage systems to ensure maximum uptime and timely resolution of any issues.
- Respond to client electrical service requests promptly and efficiently, ensuring high levels of service delivery.
- Knowledge of the SAP PM system will be considered an advantage.

- Ability to maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and repair records for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
