Employer: Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited

Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ in Midrand has an opportunity available for a DC Fixed Asset and Maintenance Assistant Manager to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be to assist DC Asset Manager to manage all fixed assets and maintenance functions within the Distribution Centre. This also includes ensuring the procurement process is completed timeously and efficiently once capex requirements are met.

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Relevant Degree in Engineering
  • 3 - 5 Years relevant experience in in a similar environment role
  • Experience within a maintenance role within a Retail/Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Facility
  • Good XL skills and Financial Acumen
  • Computer Literacy

Advantageous:

  • Relevant experience in the field of Logistics/Supply Chain Management
  • Mechanical or Electrical Certification
  • Experience in the Retail/Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Experience with SAP, EWM or other ERP systems

Job Specification…

Asset & Maintenance Plan Implementation:

  • Assist in the implementation of the distribution centre strategy by implementing systems and procedures relating to procurement and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist or Implement Service Level Agreements with all suppliers and regularly meet to ensure that SLA terms are met.
  • Collaborate with management, to find cost-effective equipment to procure according to set timelines and budgets.
  • Assist to ensure management adequately plan equipment resources such as Rolltainers, Totebins, trolleys and Pallet-Jacks, for long term demand to effectively meet customer requirements.
  • Assist or coordinate the day to day preventative maintenance programme within the Distribution Centre.
  • Assist and ensure timeous delivery of assets and equipment to the correct DC.
  • Assist to evaluate and recommend new equipment requirements, according to business needs.
  • Assist by ensure effective use of company equipment, resources, and budgets according to strategic objectives and Dis-Chem standard operating procedures.

Maintenance Administration:

  • Develop maintenance plans and delegate the tasks to relevant personnel to ensure adherence.
  • Ensure that fixed asset register is balanced at all times and aligned to the SAP records.
  • Ensure all practices and procedures comply with audit requirements and meet operational standards.
  • Complete audits, identify key industry trends where applicable, and develop plans and present recommendation to management before implementation.
  • Ensure all operational standards concerning safety measures and requirements for Dis-Chem Distribution are followed and implemented correctly.
  • Implement safety procedures and standards in all Distribution Centre operational divisions according to industry standards.
  • Maintain Fire Automation Sprinkler Inspection Bureau (ASIB) Standards by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Document and revise department standard operating procedures and system instructions where required.
Financial Administration:

  • Identify supplier or contractor issues that impact required financial objectives and report to management.
  • Assist in proactively identifying cost saving opportunities by collaborating with the operational teams and assist to implement these improvements.
  • Analyse financial indicators in line with budgets for the operations environment and adherence to corporate governance principles.

Stakeholder Liaison:

  • Ensure effective and efficient resolution and communication of internal and external DC customer day-to-day queries.
  • Liaise with service providers, performing regular inspections of equipment and supplies, and diagnosing and fixing any faults on DC equipment including ensuring contract terms are met.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with all 3rd party stakeholders and communicate effectively to resolve any supply chain issues.
  • Manage and coordinate and ad-hoc projects.
  • Provide management with regular feedback and reports.
Team Management:
  • Assess and manage the team to continually improve processes and outcomes.
  • Promote a robust culture of accountability, innovation and performance management across the team, whilst modelling the company’s values.
  • Assist in setting objectives for the team and tracking progress.
  • Manage the team leave, overtime and any other ad-hoc duties.
  • Assist in facilitating the creation of accountable, full-service teams who understand and strive to meet the needs of all stakeholders.

General:
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Uniform and personal appearance policy.

Competencies

Essential:

  • English – Read, write and speak well
  • Microsoft – Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Management Systems, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Public Safety and Security, Customer Service, Transportation Principles and Methods, Material Handling Standards
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Store and Distribution receiving procedures with regard to ordering, receiving and stocking
  • Demonstrate thorough theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of all Distribution Centre, logistics and supply chain operations
  • Knowledge of relevant Labour Relations Acts, industry standards and training objectives
  • Be able to function within a given budget, set up a budget, read and interpret financial reports and act accordingly
  • Ability to supervise staff and demonstrate personal initiative
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
  • Time management

  • Be able to lead motivate and inspire others

Special conditions of employment:

  • South African Citizen

  • Be able to work any shift i.e. day, night, weekends and holidays as per business requirements
  • Be willing to be rotated to where needed and must be willing to perform any other function within the Distribution Centre should the need arise
