Join an innovative and fast-growing technology company specialising in AI-driven software engineering and intelligent systems. This organisation builds production-ready AI solutions, autonomous agents, and enterprise-grade architectures using modern LLM tooling and cloud platforms.

They are currently seeking an Intermediate AI Engineer to join their team on a hybrid basis (1 day per week in-office), based at their Head Office in Pretoria. This role combines solid software engineering fundamentals with hands-on AI development and full stack delivery.

Requirements:

·        IT Degree (Computer Science, Engineering, or related field)

·        2 – 6 years of general Software Engineering experience

·        Proven portfolio or experience building LLM-based applications or agents

Technical Skills

AI & Language Stack

·        Python (strong proficiency – mandatory)

·        Hands-on experience with LangChain or similar LLM frameworks

·        Exposure to LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or AutoGen (advantageous)

·        Vector databases: Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, pgvector

·        Experience using GPT, Claude, or local LLMs (Ollama / HuggingFace)

Backend & Infrastructure

·        FastAPI or Flask

·        PostgreSQL and SQL; NoSQL understanding beneficial

·        AWS experience (Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda)

·        Docker with Kubernetes or ECS

·        Familiarity with IaC: Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation

Engineering

·        Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns

·        Full stack development using React, Vue, or Angular

·        Unit and integration testing (Pytest)

·        Code reviews and collaborative Git workflows
