- Plans & prepares for visits to customer sites.
- Provides technical product advice/procedures to all technical functions across the organisation.
- Investigates warranty issues and follows up with all stakeholders in the process.
- Liaises between Head Office, branches, depots and parent companies regarding technical queries/problems/drives and campaigns.
- Follows-up on actions/initiatives implemented to measure customer satisfaction (including warranty claims).
- Collates metrics and information on problems for internal continuous improvement planning.
- Utilises electronic monitoring systems such as VHMS and Komtrax to provide predictive maintenance service to customers.
- Analyses control and hydraulic system data as well as failed parts.
- Monitors machine population within a given product and stays abreast of technical, maintenance and or other issues that are technically relevant.
- Implements monitoring & checks that new machines are properly assembled and commissioned to meet the customer’s requirements.
- Reviews & analyses monthly equipment availability reports.
- Provides input with preparation of life cycle cost documents for Ramp contracts.
- Provides input to other departments with regards to improved life cycle costing models.
- Reports on customer problems , queries and resolution of issues.
- Plans visits and audits to monitor technical compliance & service quality.
- Provides and controls quality specifications and manufacturing standards for locally sourced parts and products.
- Visits suppliers to inspect components as and when required.
- Visits customer sites to evaluate service quality.
- Develops service skills, technical skills and product knowledge through “on the job” training.
- Liaises with technical training function to ensure training material is up-to-date and of the highest standard possible.
- Follows-up on initiatives to improve quality & service.
- Obtains technical information for the provision of assistance in resolving technical matters pertaining to equipment.
- Liaises with suppliers with regard to new products, initiatives and campaigns.
- Manages the technical coordination of products for KMT
- Disseminates sufficient and correct tool kits for electronic fault finding.
- Explains/disseminates information regarding the functionality of equipment control systems.
- Oversees, monitors and follows-up on actions to rectify problems.
- Recommends initiatives, drives and information dissemination with regard to products.
- Ensure factory field campaigns are carried out before expiry dates.
- Assist with internal branch audits.
INTRODUCTION:
Komatsu South Africa is seeking a Senior Technical Product Specialist EDT to join the Product Support and Sales Division at the Head Office (Germiston) specifically focused KMT Electric drive dump trucks . The successful candidate must have a Millwright / Electrician Trade Certificate with 10 years work related experience with Electric drive dump trucks.

- Komatsu product knowledge an advantage.
- Medium Voltage experience (< 1KV.)
