CUANDO RECURSOS LTD (CUANDO) is an IVANHOE MINES company operating in the Angolan mining sector, with offices in Luanda (Luanda Province), and exploration licenses in Moxico, Cuando and Cubango provinces in Angola, near the towns of Lumbala N'Guimbo and Ninda. CUANDO is inviting qualified candidates who are interested in this position. The place of work will be based in Luanda, and extensive field work would be required.

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Geological Engineering 
• Driver's License
• Basic Portuguese Language
• Intermediate English Language
• 10 years of related industry experience in exploration with at least 5 years of field-based exploration experience
• Experience of developing and mentoring junior geologists and helping them realize their potential
• Experience of working in the African Copperbelt
• Experience of working in Angola preferred
• Good knowledge of Portuguese Language
• Experience in exploration management and geological interpretation utilizing advanced geological exploration software packages
• Experience of working with structural and geotechnical data acquisition and interpretation
  

• Technical report writing 
• Technical presentation skills 
• Geology data collection and interpretation 
• Quality Assurance and Quality Control 
• Mineral systems concept 

Technical Skills should include:

• Geological mapping 
• Geological modelling 
• Use of office-related software
• GIS software

Process:

Provide supervision, training and mentorship to the exploration geology team.

• Ensure and encourage application of best practice guidelines in mineral exploration, drilling, sample acquisition and handling, geological and geotechnical data acquisition
• Oversee field sampling and drill contractor teams.
• Ensure and audit contractor’s billing and invoicing
• Perform and supervise core logging, sampling, data capture and interpretation.
• Coordinate implementation of and improve continuously the QAQC protocols and database management.
• Compile advanced geological reports and presentations on Project Geology, providing input to hypothesis being tested.
• To assist the geological team in advanced geological interpretations.
• Ensure the project team develop an overall understanding of the geological features potentially acting as components of mineral systems.
• Assist with the supervision of exploration camps
• Other duties applicable to the running of exploration as necessary
