Buyer - Construction Buyer
General Description of Position
The Buyer performs a range of detail-oriented, thorough, and organized activities to oversee purchasing and develop new contracts. The buyer plays a key role in procuring quality and cost-efficient supplies for the organization and is required to follow all procurement procedures and maintain an updated list of current and incoming inventory and be responsible for ensuring all goods are purchased with the correct documentation and approvals in place. In addition, this position maintains the office-based goods and provisions store, is involved with the administration processes for Tenders, assists the QS’s in procuring products and services cost-effectively, and ensures that suppliers/service providers’ documentation is in place for BBBEE purposes.
Work Experience Requirements
At least 8 to 10 years prior experience within a purchasing/buying environment with direct responsibility for the sourcing, administrative execution of processes and procedures, and cost-effective purchasing of products and services. It is expected that the incumbent will have:

- A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Outlook (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Email)
- Prior experience in working with BuildSmart Accounting Software
Education Requirements
- Matriculation / Grade 12 Certificate
- Certificate in the use of Accounting Software
- Certificate/Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain, Accounting, Business Management, or a similar field
- Certificate/Diploma/B Degree in Finance or equivalent
