Applications Engineer (Mechanical â€“ Ventilation & Air Systems)Full-time | Office-based with site visits | Industrial engineering environmentÂ Our client, an established air systems engineering company specialising in large turnkey industrial projects, is seeking a skilled Applications Engineer to join their mechanical engineering team. The company manages the full project lifecycle â€” from design and manufacture through to installation and commissioning â€” serving sectors such as mining, power generation, industrial processing, agriculture, marine, poultry, commercial, and HVAC.Â This role presents an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer who values long-term career stability and wants to take ownership of projects from concept through to commissioning within a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

What Youâll Do
Â
You will take responsibility for ventilation and air handling projects from initial specification to final commissioning:

Interpret client specifications, tender documents, and technical requirements
Design and select appropriate ventilation, fan, and air handling systems
Prepare technical proposals, equipment schedules, and detailed costings
Engage with clients to clarify requirements and present technical solutions
Liaise with draughting, production, and installation teams to ensure practical, cost-effective designs
Provide commissioning support and technical troubleshooting when required
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations
Attend site visits and client meetings as needed

What You Bring

BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering
Proven experience in a mechanical engineering role
Experience in ventilation, HVAC, fan systems, or industrial air movement applications (advantageous)
Bilingual in English and Afrikaans
