Waboomsberg Farming (Pty) Ltd, located just outside Prince Alfred Hamlet (Western Cape), is expanding their team and has a position available for a Production Manager in their fruit drying division.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership, planning, and organisational capabilities, and has a hands-on approach when it comes to managing operations directly on the factory floor.
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Production Manager and be responsible for (but not limited to): Production & Operations Management: *Overseeing daily operations on the drying lanes and factory floor *Overseeing fruit cutting processes (line and hand cutting) *Planning daily production and monitoring targets *Monitoring moisture levels and product quality *Supervising drying and batch control processes *Managing stock control of preservatives and production materials *Ensuring accurate production records and traceability (including BRC documentation) *Overseeing equipment control and general factory standards. Tunnel & Boiler Operations: *Overseeing loading and unloading of drying tunnels *Monitoring temperature, airflow and drying efficiency *Ensuring effective boiler operations and shift management. People & Cost Management: *Staff management and overall workforce planning *Managing discipline, overtime and wage control *Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
• Matric required, a relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous;
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a fruit packhouse in a production or line management capacity (experience in dried fruit production will be advantageous);
• Strong computer skills (MS Office);
• Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English, isiXhosa will be highly beneficial);
• Valid driver’s license.
