IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to   develop this “mine of the future”.

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Grade 12
• National Diploma or Degree in: Safety Management, Risk Management.
• Mining Engineering Degree / Diploma will be advantageous
• COMSOC 1&2, SAMTRAC, Incident Investigation and Risk Assessment training (Certification will be advantageous)

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
• 3–5 years mining or contractor management experience
• Experience dealing with regulatory inspections.
• Experience in Mining administration
• SHE documentation control
• Strong understanding of Mine Health and Safety Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Contractor management systems, Safety file requirements, Audit principles and Risk management frameworks

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

Legal and regulatory compliance
• Verify that contractors are registered and legally compliant.
• Must ensure valid COIDA registration, Tax clearance certificates, Proof of insurance, Medical fitness certificates, Competency certifications and Monitor compliance with Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) requirements.

Safety and Risk Management:
• Monitor adherence to PPE standards, Safe work procedures, Permit-to-work systems and participate in incident investigations involving contractors
• Confirm contractor induction and training compliance and ensure risk assessments and method statements are approved before work begins

Documentation and audit management:
• Maintain contractor compliance files and conduct internal compliance audits
• Prepare documentation for Internal audits, External audits, DMPR inspections and Track non-conformances and corrective actions

Performance monitoring:
• Monitor contractor safety statistics and Track incidents, near-misses, and compliance deviations.
• Report on compliance with risks to management and recommend suspension or removal of non-compliant contractors

Contractor onboarding and pre-qualification:
• Assess contractor compliance prior to site access and during procurement risk evaluations.
• Ensure all contracts include the required legal and compliance clauses.

Monthly Contractor Compliance Reports:
• Participate in SHE audits, ISO audits (if applicable), External regulatory inspections, maintain audit trails and ensure findings are resolved within agreed time frames
