Instrumentation Installation and Management

·         Conducts all instrumentation work for Topwell Chemicals SA site operations, including process plant, laboratory and logistics areas.

·         Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, calibrates and tests a wide variety of industrial instrumentation that record, indicate, control and regulate level, flow, pressure, temperature, motion, force, position, water analysis and chemical make-up.

·         Design and install instrumentation loops from concept phase to fully operational phase.

·         Analyse current equipment and process and design and implement instrumentation interventions to enable plant operations and improve process effectiveness and efficiency.

Change Control, Modifications and Projects

·         Designing, laying out and preparing relevant sketches for process plant instrumentation and modifications.

·         Conduct design, HAZOP and project planning related to projects and modifications.

·         Estimating materials, parts and equipment to complete assignments.

·         Conduct a detailed costing of modifications and instrumentation project work and generate a comprehensive  budget detail.

Monitoring and calibration

·         Lay out, install and place into service new metering, controlling and recording devices.

·         Ensure all instrumentation is calibrated.

·         Create basic schematics and simulated models to test instrumentation.

·         Ensure all telemetry systems are properly installed and maintained

Interpreting Information and Application of Knowledge and Skills

·         Be able to read and interpret relevant engineering drawings, related specifications, quality standards and equipment manuals, and to follow work instructions and relevant plans and schedules.

·         Fully understand requirements and technical aspects of new measuring devices and control systems, ensuring devices are correctly installed and properly tested.

·         Drafts technical manuals and SOP’s for instrumentation.

·         Reviews operator’s manuals and other established guidelines and ensure Topwell Chemicals SA is fully aligned and compliant to manufacturer and agents guidelines and recommendations.

·         Ensure perfect interpretation of applicable codes and installation practices and standards.

Troubleshooting and Management of Tasks

·      Conduct instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic as well as programmable logic control (PLC) systems and DCS systems.

·      Troubleshoots telemetry and process controller hardware, maintains a functional knowledge of the operation of the telemetry system software and hardware.
