Key Responsibilities
Statutory Compliance and Payroll Oversight
Ensure legislative compliance at all times
Oversee the preparation, review and detailed checking of consolidated, monthly and other payroll packs, reconciliations, statutory submissions, costing and reports generated by the Payroll team, ensuring correctness and timeous completion
Ensure salaries are signed off and authorised by the appropriate managers
Ensure salaries are correctly and timeously paid, including all payroll-related payments to external providers
Team Lead and Support
Oversee and supervise Payroll Administrators
Manage performance, coaching, discipline, leave and hours approval
Ensure effective collaboration and flow of information within the payroll team and across departments
Provide support and query resolution to the team, ensuring all queries are attended to timeously
Provide support to Payroll team members, line managers and employees with payroll-related queries
Governance, Controls and Continuous Improvement
Ensure adherence to procedures, policies and deadlines
Drive continuous improvement across payroll processes, people and risk
Stay current with payroll system tax updates and functionality changes, test system updates and communicate changes to the department
Perform other related duties, general administration and project work as required

Qualifications and Experience
National Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Financial Accounting, Accounting, Finance or a related field
Minimum 3–5 years’ payroll experience in a lead or team leadership role
Knowledge of South African payroll legislation (mandatory)
Sage 300 People experience (advantageous)
Experience with Google Analytics and other relevant analytic platforms
