Job Description:
This role’s core function is to support the GM of Finance and the CFO in the administration of foreign currency related payments and hedge accounting and the provision of accurate and timeous Internal reporting, Group reporting, External reporting, Tax reporting, Board reporting and Compliance related reporting.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Foreign Vehicle Purchases:
- Tracking of all shipments through close liaison with product planning and distribution departments
- Preparation of all Letter of Credit documentation
- Foreign payments (Electronic Online payments and via BOP forms)
- Dealing with Treasury One for the purchase of financial instruments
- Tracking of all orders through close liaison with product planning to ensure sufficient Forex cover
- Compiling weekly and month-end Forex schedule to submit to Motus Group Treasury team
- All month end processes, including but not limited to reporting and reconciliations related to Forex, Hedge Accounting and Tax
- Monthly Cash Flow Forecasting
- Daily reporting of forex-based payments to Motus Treasury (Cash Flow Actuals)
- Preparation of all balance sheet recons related to forex, hedge accounting and inventory valuations
- Supplying FX Rates per shipment to vehicle costing team
Reporting:
- Reporting of Importer Results (Flash) to Motus Group on HYPERION and sending Flash commentary to Group
- Reporting of actual results YTD on HYPERION, including Importer results, elimination of intercompany transactions and elimination of Hedge Reserve
- Reporting of budget and forecast on HYPERION, including Importer results, elimination of intercompany transactions and elimination of Hedge Reserve
- Investigating and clearing validations, including ICP balances on HYPERION
- Investigating and resolving Group Finance queries timeously on HYPERION
- Compiling of additional supporting templates where required, including but not limited to Revenue Template, Other Receivables and Tax
- Assistance with preparation of Board and FRRC packs
- Completion of Tax Computations
- Completion of Tax Pack and addressing and resolving Tax Pack queries
Audit:
- Work with the internal and external independent group audit team. This includes facilitating the provision of relevant documentation to support the audit procedures, assisting the audit teams with any queries and maintaining a professional relationship with the independent auditor
- Preparation of Annual Financial Statements
Other:
- Company Secretarial duties (Accurate record keeping)
- Identify areas for improvement in process in applicable areas of responsibility and implement new procedures to optimize efficiency
- Ad-Hoc finance functions where required
Qualifications and experience required:
- Qualified CA (SA)
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
Key Skills and Attributes required:
- Understanding of IFRS Standards, IFRS 9 in particular
- The ability to analyse large sets of financial data to identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies.
- A keen eye for accuracy and attention to details, ensuring all financial data and reports are precise and error-free.
- Ability to handle large datasets, clean data, and use advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP) for financial reporting.
- Understanding of Financial Regulations and Standards: Knowledge of accounting standards like GAAP, IFRS and relevant tax codes.
- The ability to write clear, concise, and accurate reports tailored for different audiences, presenting complex financial data in a digestible manner
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data and reporting processes.
- Strong ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines, especially during busy reporting periods
- Multitasking: The ability to manage multiple reporting tasks at once without compromising quality.
- Understanding of Compliance Requirements: Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements for different jurisdictions (e.g., tax filings, and financial disclosures).
- Adherence to strong ethical standards in reporting and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
- Ability to work with various departments (e.g., finance, distribution, legal, tax) to gather necessary data for reports.
- Experience in working with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and senior leadership to ensure reports meet all necessary requirements.
- Staying informed about changes in financial regulations and reporting standards.
