MBEZE RESOURCES LTD (MBEZE) is an IVANHOE MINES company operating in the Zambian mining sector, with offices in Lusaka (Lusaka Province), and exploration licenses in North- Western Province Zambia near the town of Zambezi. MBEZE is inviting qualified candidates, both male and female, who are interested in this position. The place of work will be located in Lusaka, and extensive field work would be required.
Play your part in our team succeeding...Lead field teams in the collection and recording of accurate geological data whilst adhering to safety protocols required by the company. You will have the following:
- High school level education
- Zambian National Driver's Licence
- 10-15 years in exploration and prospecting support activities
- Fluency in English is essential. Kaonde, Lunda and Luvale are advantageous
- Safety awareness and management
- Accurate recording of all geological data types
- Sampling processes and procedures
Technical Skills should include:
- Basic rock type knowledge and ore mineral identification
- Team leadership skills
- Use of GPS, InReach, Sat phone in emergencies
- Good communicator
- Excel use
Field activities:
Supervise the collection and recording of accurate geological field data
- Lead exploration activities in the field (soil sampling, RC sample collection, line clearing, ground geophysics surveys etc)
- Supervise air core drilling programs
- Supervise the transport of equipment and geological materials between Lusaka and the field operating areas
- Supervision of drilling site preparation and rehabilitation
- Support field camp and fly camp construction
Lusaka Warehouse activities:
Management of Lusaka warehouse
- Manage teams assigned to the core yard/warehouse facility
- Extend the life of vehicles, equipment, machinery, PPE and tools through good housekeeping, care and maintenance
- Safe and orderly storage of core
- Oversee diamond drilling core orientation and markup. Identify poor quality orientation marks and inform the geologists and drilling supervisor
- Collect or supervise the collection of pXRF readings and accurately input sampling data into spreadsheets or database as required
- Geotechnical logging, mag sus and density measurements and accurately input sampling data into spreadsheets or database as required
- Oversee core photography and storage
- Transport and collation of third-party core that may be brought in from time to time for research purposes
- Oversee and participate in the collection of hyperspectral data
