MBEZE RESOURCES LTD (MBEZE) is an IVANHOE MINES company operating in the Zambian mining sector, with offices in Lusaka (Lusaka Province), and exploration licenses in North- Western Province Zambia near the town of Zambezi. MBEZE is inviting qualified candidates, both male and female, who are interested in this position. The place of work will be located in Lusaka, and extensive field work would be required.
Play your part in our team succeeding...- Management of the mineral exploration activities in Zambia on Mbeze Resources Ltd exploration permits.
- To manage and control budgets for all Exploration Contractor/s undertaking work in Zambia.
- To develop, train, supervise, mentor and guide the geological team as it expands in Zambia.
- To ensure best practice guidelines are followed in the fields of exploration planning, geological, geochemical and geophysical data acquisition and processing, and diamond drilling.
- To oversee the compilation of advanced geological reports and presentations on project geology and mineralisation and to ensure the exploration team develop an overall understanding of the geological controls within the Central African Copperbelt.
You will have the following:
- BSc Hons Geology or related qualifications.
- Post graduate degree (MSc or Phd) in applied geology preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- 10-15 years of related industry experience in exploration and mining with at least 5 years of field-based exploration experience.
- Sedimentary-hosted Stratiform Copper (SSC) experience required, with an understanding of Sedimentary Basin Analysis.
- Experience of managing large exploration project budgets dealing with soil sampling, geophysical, drilling contractors and geochemical assay laboratories.
- Experience in geological and structural logging, sampling, geochemical data acquisition and interpretation.
- Experience in exploration data management and geological interpretation utilising advanced geological exploration and visualisation software packages.
- Experience of developing and mentoring junior geologists and helping them realise their potential.
- English language
Technical Skills should include:
- Advanced computer and technical writing skills.
- Employee shall be proficient in the MS Suite.
- Employee shall be required to become proficient in the following applications within the first year of employment: ArcGIS, Leapfrog, acQuire, other application as specified.
Process:
Zambia Exploration Strategy and Technical lead
- Provide input for an evolving exploration and target generation strategy in Zambia.
- Collaborate with the senior exploration team to improve the geological understating of the Luifilian Arc within Zambia and broader basin
- Assist the geological team in advanced geological, structural geology, geotechnical interpretations
- Inspire technical excellence across exploration targeting and testing
- Management of Exploration Contractors to ensure sampling and drilling programmes are carried out to an appropriate International Standard.
- Liaising with the Contractors to ensure compilation and timeous completion of geological and technical reports.
- Coordinate Company resources, both technical and support staff, across the projects
