Internship: Junior IT Helpdesk Technician
This internship position is intended for an entry-level IT candidate seeking practical, hands-on experience in a corporate IT environment. The Junior IT Helpdesk Technician will provide first-line and second-line technical support to internal staff, under the supervision and guidance of senior IT personnel.
The role is internally focused and support-based, with an emphasis on learning, troubleshooting, and maintaining day-to-day IT operations rather than owning systems or development functions. The successful candidate will gain exposure to desktop support, network environments, server applications, and general IT administration.
Key Responsibilities:

Providing timely technical support to employees through the IT helpdesk system

Logging, tracking, and resolving IT support tickets in line with internal service standards

Assisting with the administration and maintenance of user accounts, hardware, and software

Supporting basic Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange user administration

Assisting with desktop setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of end-user devices
-
Supporting routine system maintenance, updates, backups, and security procedures
-
Ensuring IT equipment is correctly set up, maintained, and operational

Assisting with the onboarding and offboarding of IT equipment
-
Escalating complex issues to senior IT staff where required
-
Maintaining accurate records of IT assets and support activities

Carrying out ad-hoc IT-related tasks as instructed by the IT Manager or management team
Candidate Requirements
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Completed post-Matric IT qualification
-
Fluent in English and Afrikaans

Basic experience or exposure to:
-
Windows desktop environments
-
Corporate network environments
-
Desktop and user support
-
-
Fundamental understanding of IT troubleshooting principles

Willingness to learn and work under supervision

Good communication and time-management skills
Advantageous (but not required):

Exposure to Active Directory or Microsoft Exchange

Exposure to MS SQL environments
-
Familiarity with IT ticketing systems

Interest in IT security and systems administration
