The HR and Admin Office Manager is responsible for overseeing all human resources functions and managing the daily administrative operations of the engineering office. This role ensures compliance with labour legislation, supports staff development, and maintains efficient office systems that enable smooth business operations.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources ManagementManage full HR function including recruitment, onboarding, and employee exitsDraft and maintain employment contracts and HR policiesEnsure compliance with South African labour laws and company policiesMaintain employee records, leave tracking, and HR databasesManage payroll inputs, timesheets, and benefits administrationHandle disciplinary procedures, grievances, and performance managementCoordinate training and skills development initiativesSupport BBBEE reporting and HR audits where requiredPromote a positive workplace culture and employee engagementOffice AdministrationOversee daily office operations and administrative systemsManage office supplies, equipment, and vendor relationshipsSupervise reception and administrative staffMaintain filing systems (digital and physical)Coordinate travel, meetings, and company eventsAssist with tender documentation and compliance paperworkSupport finance with invoicing, procurement, and documentation controlEnsure health & safety compliance within the officeOperational SupportAssist directors and managers with administrative planningImprove office processes and efficiencyManage confidential company documentationLiaise with external service providers and consultantsEnsure professional front-office operations
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- HR certification (advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in HR and office management
- Experience within an engineering or technical environment preferred
- Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation
- Proficiency in MS Office and HR/payroll systems
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong administrative and reporting skills
- Time management and prioritisation abilities
